Safety Rules
Teen Recruit is for practical local services, not risky work. These rules apply to parent-managed teen businesses, customers, parents, guardians, and anyone using the site.
Emergency first
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or local emergency services. Teen Recruit reports and support messages are not emergency tools.
Parent-managed setup and supervision
Teen business profiles must be owned and managed by a parent or guardian account owner. Parents should review the teen profile, listed services, messages, customer requests, schedules, work locations, transportation, payment arrangements, supplies, and safety plans. Teens should not meet customers or go to job sites without parent or guardian review.
Age-specific work rules
Teen Recruit accepts parent-managed teen business accounts for ages 14 to 17, but the work allowed can differ by age, state, school schedule, and job type. Ages 14 and 15 generally face stricter hour limits and more restricted job categories. Ages 16 and 17 may work more hours federally, but hazardous occupations remain prohibited and state rules may be stricter.
School and hour limits
Teens must follow school attendance, curfew, and youth work-hour rules. Customers should not ask teens to work during school hours, late at night, or in a way that interferes with school, sleep, safety, or parent rules.
Request eligibility screening
For service requests, Teen Recruit records the teen's age, work state, exact task, equipment, date, start and end time, total daily and weekly hours, school status, and permit information. Known prohibited work is blocked. Requests with missing facts, possible state-specific requirements, or unclear equipment may be held for administrator review before the teen business can accept them.
This screening is conservative and does not replace advice from a state labor agency or qualified attorney. Users must follow the more protective federal, state, or local requirement and report any change to the task or schedule before work begins.
No exact teen location in public
Teen profiles should list only a general service area, such as a city, neighborhood, or ZIP code. Do not post home addresses, school addresses, customer addresses, gate codes, exact meeting spots, maps to a teen's home, or screenshots showing private locations.
Customer address rules
Customer addresses should be shared only for a specific request and only with the parent-managed teen business connected to that request. Customers should describe safety details, pets, parking, access instructions, adult supervision, tools, and hazards before the teen arrives.
Portfolio upload rules
Only post work you did or have permission to share. Do not post private addresses, house numbers, license plates, school names, faces without permission, customer names, private messages, children, security systems, keys, gate codes, or anything that identifies a private home. Crop or blur details when needed.
Blocked work
Do not list or request roof work, high ladder work, gutter cleaning, electrical work, hazardous chemicals, pesticides, firearms, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, adult services, illegal activity, operating powered vehicles, driving passengers, heavy machinery, construction, demolition, excavation, mining, manufacturing, meat processing, saws, hoists, or any work unsafe or unlawful for minors.
Powered tools and lawn care
Teens under 16 should not use power-driven mowers, cutters, trimmers, edgers, or similar equipment. Teens 16 or 17 should only use powered lawn equipment where allowed by law, with parent management, safe equipment, training, protective gear, and clear customer expectations. Manual yard work may still have state, heat, chemical, tool, and supervision limits.
Restricted work needing extra review
Some work may be allowed only with parent management, adult supervision, age checks, or local-law review. Examples include babysitting, pet sitting, dog walking, pool or hot tub tasks, car detailing chemicals, event setup, moving heavy items, restaurant or business cleanup, work in private homes, and recurring jobs involving travel.
Transportation
Teen Recruit does not provide transportation. Customers must not ask teens to drive passengers, operate vehicles for the job, or use unsafe transportation. Teens and parents are responsible for deciding how the teen gets to and from any job site.
Communication rules
Messages must stay respectful, appropriate, and job-focused. Do not ask for secrecy from parents, send sexual content, request private photos, pressure someone to move off-platform, threaten, harass, discriminate, or push a teen to accept unclear or unsafe work.
Meeting and job-site rules
Before work starts, users should confirm the job, location, time, price, tools, supplies, hazards, who will be present, and how to end the job. Teens should leave, call a parent, or refuse the job if the work differs from the request, the location feels unsafe, the customer acts inappropriately, or the task seems illegal or hazardous.
Tools, chemicals, and protective gear
Teens should only use tools they know how to use safely and are allowed to use. Protective gear should be used where appropriate. Customers should not provide broken, unsafe, unfamiliar, or age-restricted equipment. Teens should avoid hazardous chemicals and should not mix cleaning products.
Animals, pools, and water
Animal care, dog walking, pools, hot tubs, and water-related tasks can create extra risk. Users should discuss animal behavior, allergies, emergency contacts, gates, water safety, chemicals, and supervision before accepting the job. Teens should not accept tasks beyond their training or comfort level.
Money and leaderboard safety
Leaderboard earnings must come from real accepted customer hires. Fake customers, inflated amounts, repeated self-dealing, undisclosed incentives, or attempts to manipulate rankings may lead to removal from the leaderboard, admin review, suspension, or deletion. Large or suspicious hires may need admin verification before counting.
Reviews and public claims
Reviews, ratings, portfolio claims, and service descriptions must be truthful. Do not post fake reviews, ask only happy customers for reviews, hide incentives, misrepresent results, or claim certifications, licenses, insurance, or experience you do not have.
Harassment, discrimination, and exploitation
Teen Recruit does not allow harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, grooming, exploitation, discrimination, stalking, intimidation, or pressure to hide activity from parents. Report this behavior immediately.
Copyright and private content
Do not upload images, videos, logos, music, or written content unless you created it or have permission to use it. Do not upload nonconsensual intimate images, explicit content, or content involving exploited minors. Report urgent child exploitation concerns to the NCMEC CyberTipline and emergency services if there is immediate danger.
Report concerns
Use report buttons or email [email protected] if a profile, service, request, message, portfolio item, review, customer, or teen seems unsafe, misleading, private, illegal, or inappropriate. Include screenshots or details if safe to do so.
Admin review
Teen Recruit may review reports, portfolio items, parent-managed account status, service categories, high-value hires, messages, and suspicious accounts. Admins may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or ask for more information.
Local rules still matter
Federal rules are not the whole picture. State and local youth labor laws, school rules, business licenses, insurance, permits, HOA rules, and city ordinances may be stricter. Teens, parents, and customers are responsible for checking what applies in their area.
Simple safety checklist
Before accepting a job, confirm: parent knows, customer is an adult, task is legal for the teen's age, location is clear, exact public teen location is not shown, pay is agreed, tools are safe, hazards are disclosed, transportation is planned, and there is a way to leave or contact a parent.
